I’ve always been super fascinated by Artificial Intelligence and its power to tackle real-world problems. One issue that’s been on my mind is how hard it is for everyday folks to access legal knowledge and services. Let’s be honest—the legal system can feel like a maze, and without proper guidance, it’s easy to get lost or even treated unfairly. 😕

Why Legal Help Shouldn’t Be a Luxury

Life throws all sorts of challenges our way. While we all hope to steer clear of legal troubles, sometimes they’re unavoidable. Take a minor car accident, for example. Dealing with insurance claims can be downright confusing, and insurance companies might not always have your back. To stand up for ourselves and exercise our rights, we need to navigate the legal system—but that’s easier said than done for most people.

The Lightbulb Moment: An AI Legal Advisor

Seeing this gap, my colleague Kael had an awesome idea: “Why don’t we develop an AI that provides legal advice?” 💡 Mind blown! Sure, there are some legal services out there, but we wanted to create something secure, smart, and personalized—a kind of AI lawyer buddy you can actually trust. Our mission is simple yet ambitious: make legal expertise accessible to everyone, so people can protect their rights without the hefty price tag or complicated processes.

A One-Week Challenge? Game On!

We decided to kick off the project with a bold goal: start developing our AI legal advisor within one week. Challenge accepted! 🚀 We dove into advanced language models from Hugging Face, focusing on the SLM architecture. Kael took the helm on planning and big-picture ideas, while I rolled up my sleeves to handle the technical build.

This project was refreshingly straightforward compared to some of Kael’s other wild ideas (you should hear them!). It got me even more excited to jump in. Who knows? Maybe we’ll tackle those crazier projects down the line when we’ve got more time on our hands.

Working with Kael: An Inspiring Adventure

Working alongside Kael is nothing short of inspiring—and a bit intense! Even when she’s not feeling 100%, she’s hustling day and night with minimal sleep. Talk about dedication! 💪 Her relentless drive keeps the team moving forward.

Now, I’ll admit—I love my sleep. 😴 But Kael prefers to power through and wrap up tasks before taking a break. Her focus and commitment are absolutely amazing, though sometimes it can be a tad overwhelming. We’ve had moments where we skipped essential planning steps, which led to hiccups later on. Those experiences taught us just how crucial proper preparation is.

Why Now? The Rising Need for Accessible Legal Help

These days, it feels like legal issues are more common than ever, making the need for accessible legal assistance increasingly important. Just like smartphones have become a staple in our daily lives, we believe that having a personal AI legal advisor will soon be essential. The stories we see in the news highlight the significance of our mission—and we’re pumped to be part of the solution.

Looking Forward: Bigger Goals and Better Tech

We’re committed to continuously improving our AI model. Next up, we’re switching gears to the Llama architecture and leveraging an NVIDIA 3090 GPU to boost performance. � llama + 🖥️ = 🔥

But here’s the catch—we’ve got to make sure we’re playing by the rules. An essential part of our process is checking all the licensing requirements. We need to ensure the technologies we use are legit for commercial use and that we fully understand the regulations. Skipping these details could spell big trouble down the road, and we definitely don’t want that!
